Lisburn
Distillery will be relieved to come away with a hard fought
victory against Kilmore Rec in their second pre-season game.
The first half was dominated by the Amateur League side who took
the game to the Whites straight from the off. Poor finishing from
the home side only prevented them from leading comfortably at half
time.
In
fact Kilmore's only goal to show for their first half efforts arrived
on the half hour mark when the their number eleven slotted past
David Wilton in
the Whites goal. Lisburn Distillery's only efforts on goal came
from two
Andy Waterworth half shots which didn't trouble the home keeper
and a Wayne Buchanan header that went over the bar.
The
second half performance by the Whites improved
somewhat, with several important substitutions being made at
half time, combined with the fact that the team were playing
down a considerable slope on the pitch towards the Kilmore goal.
The Whites had a touch of luck about their equaliser on sixty-nine
minutes when Ryan McCann was awarded a free kick just outside the
box.
His shot on goal seemed to be going wide but fortunately it
came off Darren Armour's knee and was deflected into the back of
the net.
Lisburn Distillery's second goal was a much more spectacular effort.
On seventy five minutes Damien McLaughlin, who had just come on,
hit a
superb shot from a John Martin pass, from the outside of the box
into the
top right hand corner.
After
this the Whites missed several chances to further their lead with
Andrew Dickson wasteful on at least three occasions. The visitors
were in fact nearly made to pay for this poor finishing when a Kilmore
subsitute just failed to equalise on eighty seven minutes when his
powerful shot just went wide of the post with Philip Matthews beaten.
