Carnegie Premier League side Lisburn Distillery had a comfortable victory over Leinster Senior League Division 1 side Drogheda Town, thanks to a hat-trick from striker Damien McLaughlin.

The game was played at Oriel Park, Dundalk and whilst both sides were effectively 'visitors' it was the Whites who almost went close in the opening ten minutes.McLaughlin shot wide and number 8, Conor Hagan, could have done better when his tame effort was held by Alan Sweeney in the Town goal.

McLaughlin then sank Drogheda in the space of two minutes (21 & 23) when he headed home on each occasion.

On 38 minutes, Francis Murphy darted down the left and his cross was turned into his own net by a defender.

Alan Sweeney then made two great stops to deny Andy Waterworth and then Mclaughlin, the ball coming off the cross-bar after the second save.

McLaughlin got his hat-trick just after the break, converting form the penalty spot after a foul.The Whites lost their full-back, Neil Alderdice, through injury, youngster Johnny Magee coming on as his replacement.

Martin Connor unleashed a 25 yard drive that Wilton did well to tip over and Sweeney made another save from Murphy before Connor netted a consolation goal late on for Pat Mohan's side, who played some good football in an entertaining friendly.
