Managers' Views

Lisburn Distillery continued their fine pre-season form with a reasonably comfortable victory against the PSNI at Newforge this evening.

The Whites enjoyed the most possession of the ball during the opening stages of the game with their first effort on goal coming when skipper Wayne Buchanan shot wide on eleven minutes. Efforts from Thompson, Murphy, Bell and Waterworth all failed to find the back of the net as the Whites just failed to add that killer touch in the final quarter.

On thirty five minutes the home keeper produced a great double save from an initial Kilmartin shot, with him then pushing Damien McLaughlin's follow up effort out for a corner. From the resulting corner the PSNI defence was caught napping as Francis Murphy's cross was headed home at the near post by Damien McLaughlin to put Lisburn Distillery into a well deserved lead.

The second half was nine minutes old when the PSNI equalised. Their number two tapped the ball home at the far post after an initial cross cum shot was not dealt with by the Distillery defence.

The Whites responded superbly to conceding this goal when three minutes later James Bell met the ball cleanly from a Dickson corner for Lisburn Distillery to take the lead once again.

As usual with these games a flurry of substitutions followed during the second half which disrupted the flow of the game.

The Whites continued to pepper the PSNI goal with various shots, the highlight being a Ryan McCann thirty yard shot which was turned over the bar by the keeper.

McCann in fact did find his shooting boots on eighty six minutes when he fired home from twenty yards for Lisburn Distillery's third and final goal.
