Lisburn Distillery sit on top of Group C after this opening day victory over Glenavon.

New look Glenavon under new boss Colin Malone were faced by a home side missing eight first team regulars, out through suspension or injury.

Keeper David Wilton made his first start and saved early on from Conor Walsh turning the ball around the post. The Whites then got going and former Whites keeper ball Paul Rice was called into action for Glenavon. He made several crucial clearances as the Whites tried to get in behind the visitors but he could do little on 19 minutes as Paul Muir's long range free-kick zipped into the bottom corner.

Glenavon had a couple of late first half-chances, Andy Kilmartin cleared a header away before Wilton was down to save Ciaran Quinn's 20 yard drive.

The Whites went close after the break, Damien McLaughlin well off target after a great run into the box. Nathan McConnell shot wide for the visiotrs before Wilton saved a header from the same player.

On 76 minutes, Darren Armour scored from a tremendous backpost overhead kick and the points were in the bag.

Glenavon faded, McLaughlin went close again, his shot cleared off the line by a defender, and Rice denied Kilmartin with a good save.

Right at the end, Francis Murphy made it three. Ryan Catney sent James Bell down the right, Armour jumped over his cross and Murphy finished off with one touch inside the keeper before netting the ball.

Paul Kirk - Lisburn Distillery

'I am absolutely delighted because if everybody had been fit it probably wouldn't have been the team I would have fielded but it goes to show that when you are forced to pick a team it shows you a bit about what you have got in terms of the depth of the club and the strength that you have got.All the young players were superb.'

Colin Malone - Glenavon

'I thought we opened well at the start of the second, territorially we had more of the ball and more of the play but the second goal killed it and it was our own mistake.

Nathan McConnell had a couple of chances, Gavin McDonnell had a header but outside of that there weren't too many other players on the park who had attempts on goal and that was extremely disappointing.'
