A single strike in the eleventh minute was enough to give Lisburn Distillery three vital points in this penultimate game in Group C.

Conor Hagan's strike proved decisive, the number 8 cutting in from the right before hitting a 20 yard drive home.

Hagan had another opportunity to increase the lead, but this time his shot went straight to at keeper Paul Rice.Whilst the Lurgan Blues looked stronger towards the break, they didn't test Phil Matthews in the Whites' goal.

Paul Knight headed a cross from Nathan McConnell wide, before McConell fired over after two visiting players had gone for the same ball, the ball the falling to the Glenavon number 9.

The home looked more positive at the start of the second half, McConnell heading over in the 46th minute, but outside of that Matthews had only a free-kick to test him and he pushed that over the bar.

Damien McLaughlin could have made it two for the Whites after he dispossessed Trindad and Tobago defender Atiba Charles on 76 minutes. It was a rare mistake from the imposing centre-back on his Glenavon debut but although McLaughlin sprinted clear his final shot was blocked by Paul Rice.

Both sides introduced susbstitutes and Marty Verner came on against his old club, but neither side could produce anything of note as the game fizzled out to its' conclusion.Victory means that a draw against Larne next week would be enough to put Paul Kirk's side into the semi-finals.

Colin Malone - Glenavon

'It's the attacking end that's failing us at the minute, I thought again that we were comfortable at the back, they didn't cause us that many problems.'

Paul Kirk - Lisburn Distillery

'It's an another Premier League scalp and an away victory - it might have been dour at times but it was a good result as we aim for the quarter-finals.'
