Coleraine Res 0 Lisburn Distillery Seconds 3 (HT 0-2)

Match Report from David Taylor The LIne-up

The Whites started strongly, and went into the lead after 10 minutes, when Armour was pulled down in the six yard box as he shot for goal, he then calmly put away the resultant penalty to give them an early lead.

After half an hour Johnston scored the second, when he broke free just inside the opponents half, ran forward, and when no one closed him down struck an absolute beauty from all of thirty yards, to give the keeper no chance. Both teams created chances without putting them away and the Whites went in, at half time, two goals to the good.

The second half saw a similar scenario to the first, with the Whites in control, but it was not until twenty minutes from the end, that a good move, involving Dickson and Johnston, saw the latter send in a crisp cross from the right, and Cooling slotted the ball home from eight yards out.

More chances went begging, as the Whites were in total command, but luck in front of goal deserted them and they had to settle for a three-goal win.

Manager's Comments

Our first league game of the season saw the Whites in dominant form and they could have won by a more comfortable margin, but had little luck in front of goal in the second half. All the first teamers in the squad played well, but Johnston, Catney, and Armour deserved a mention, and for the youngsters Magee, Whitford, and a super cool finish from Cooling saw the first three points safely in the bag at the start of our league programme.
