Crusaders Res 1 Lisburn Distillery Seconds 4 (HT 1-2 )

Match Report from David Taylor The LIne-up

The Whites took the lead after only five minutes, when Patton laid a ball back to Martin, who then struck a beauty, from twenty yards out into the net to give the keeper no chance.

More chances went begging before Martin got his second, on twenty minutes, when McQuillan broke down the left, and his near post low cross was brilliantly tuned home, again the keeper could do little to stop it.

It was one-way traffic, with Bell and Esler dominant in midfield, and Martin and Patton causing havoc for the home defence. But as so often happens, a loose ball in midfield was picked up by Crusaders and fed through to Stirling who gave Wilton no chance from close range.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with the Whites in control, and it was no surprise when Martin completed his hat trick to put them three up.

Then they wrapped it up in the final quarter, when McQuillan scored number four, from close range after good work from Cooling and Patton.

Manager's Comments

Sweet revenge for our George Wilson semi-final defeat at the hands of Crusaders, we really played well and could have won by five or six if we had taken all our chances.

The backbone of the team, Wilton, Muir, Bell and Martin all played extremely well and were ably assisted by the enthusiasm and good football of the younger lads, everyone played their part in a really good game of football. Well done boys you deserved this one.
