This was a welcome and hard-earned point, coming off the back of three defeats and a draw.It looked as though the Whites would come away with three points, however Portadown's pressure finally paid off and they snatched a 90th minute equaliser.

Lisburn Distillery looked the more capabale of the sides in the opening half and Andy Kilmartin, back after a six week absence, flashed a couple of 20 yard plus efforts over the Portadown goal.

On 20 minutes the Whites looked certain to take the lead, a right-wing cross from Neil Alderdice fell to James Bell but instead of the net bulging, his header went the wrong side of the post and wide.

Two minutes later Alan Smart had the ball in the net for the home side but it was ruled out for offside.Bizarrely, it was one of three goals that Portadown had ruled out for offside. On 36 minutes Marc McCann's shot, deflected of Alan Smart, suffered the same decision.

On 43 minutes Darren Armour's cross was cut out by John Convery as Marty Verner waited to pounce.A minute later John Martin saw a shot clip the the top of the bar and go over.Verner and Ryan McCann also fired wide in first half injury time.

Second-half, Kilmartin's shot was headed clear before Gary McCutcheon's shot went wide.Kevin Pressman pushed a fierce free-kick from Paul Muir over the bar but Portadown then began to come into the game.Phil Matthews saved from Marc McCann before the Whites took the lead.

Verner sent a peach of a ball in behind the Ports defence and Armour took it on before burying it beyond Pressman. It was a wake-up call for the home side and the last twenty minutes was tense, nail-biting stuff for the visiting supporters.

McCutcheon had a goal ruled out, Matthews made a number of saves , Michael Ferguson was at the back post to head Michael Collins header off the goal-line and then the post kept out another McCutcheon header.

The Whites defended solidly to a man, and on 79 minutes the ground fell silent as Verner's drive whistled past a post on a rare breakout by the Whites..

Portadown kept it going and got a last gasp equaliser on 90 minutes, Convery coming in to head home a cross. In injury time Ferguson made a timely interception to deny McCann what would have been a dramatic strike.

Portadown deserved something for their pressure but at the same time the Whites were outstanding defensively and had they taken those first half-chances who knows what the final outcome would have been?

   Ronnie McFall - Portadown

'I couldn't fault the players for their effort commitment and endeavour. On the day dire assistant refereeing decisions went against us. It was match on the balance of play that we should have won comfortably.'

        Paul Kirk - Lisburn Distillery

'We have played the top five teams in the league over these last five weeks and it's great for us to come away with a point from here. I think that you saw a different Lisburn Distillery side out on the park today, they fought hard, they worked hard, they grafted, we didn't take chances at the back, we were solid defensively and I was pleased .We now go away, come back training on Tuesday night determined to start a run and get it going. It's a starting point to build on and it's a big point down here..'
