Lisburn
Distillery avoided the pitfall of previous seasons, losing to junior
opposition, and progressed to the semi-finals thanks to a solid
workmanlike performance and a Darren Armour hat-trick.
On
eight minutes Paul Muir's glancing header was wide of the mark,
but inside a minute the Whites were in front.Running on to a forward
header from Damien McLaughlin, Darren Armour sent a volley beyond
the outstretched arm of Tony Miskelly.
With
16 minutes gone, Andy Kilmartin went off through injury and sub
James Bell, who was to play an important role in the Whites' second
goal, came on.
Dundela
though were level first of all though on 23 minutes, Glenn Dougherty
was clipped by Wayne Buchanan, and Stephen Gourley fired the penalty
beyond Phil Matthew's dive.
The
home side then racked up a host of chances, but it wasn't until
the 40th minute that the ball ended up in the Dundela net. Bell
disposessed a defender and his pass fell perfectly for Darren Armour
to run onto and fire across the goal and into the corner.
In
stoppage time the Whites had a bit of a let-off, David Officer getting
in behind the defence but he fired wide. The first half action wasn't
finished though and when Francis Murphy was upended Armour bagged
his hat-trick, sending the penalty top left into the goal.
Matthews
Burrows fired wide for the visitors after the break and Ryan McCann
saw Miskelly fumble his shot on the line. The Duns had a possession
for a short spell before the Whites dominated again and McLaughlin
saw his header bounce of the bar.
Matthews
was across to save David Muphy's 30-yard effort but that was the
closest the East Belfast side came, an upset was never on the cards
and the Whites were through to the semi-finals of the Shield.
