Lisburn Distillery Seconds 7 Ballymena United Res 1 (HT 1-1 )

Match Report from David Taylor The LIne-up

The Whites created many chances in the opening twenty minutes, but it was Ballymena who scored first when, in their only chance of the first half, they scored from a breakaway.

The Whites replied almost immediately, when a corner from the left was nudged home by Verner, at the near post, to let the sides go in level at the break,

The second half was only five minutes old when it rained goals, six in a twenty-minute period, which shattered the opposition and left them wondering what had hit them.

Three super strikes, one from Johnston from outside the box, a beauty of a free kick from McKeown and a lovely volley from McLaughlin, plus two from Bell and another from Verner wrapped up a super win over the current league leaders.

Manager's Comments

The score line did not flatter the Whites, as they were well worth their win, a reward for some super football and classical finishing. This was a match in which every member of the squad played their part, and even if it always seems the scorers get all the credit, other fine performances were worthy of note, Wilton and his back four were solid, midfield was dominant the whole match, and although he did not score Armour worked his socks off, and deserved to be on the score sheet.

Well done lads a great performance.

David Taylor
