Game over at half-time is the simple summary of this one as Lisburn Distillery overpowered and punished Larne's poor defending at Inver Park.

Marty Verner was the ace in the pack, firing home a first half hat-trick, he could have had at least one more!

On 11 minutes he broke in behind the home defence after evading a defender and fired low past Chris Keenan.Eleven minutes later, Francis Murphy added number two after Conor Hagan broke on the right, his cross was played on by Robinson into the path of Murphy who made no mistake from close range.

It went from bad to worse for the home side, and how new boss Paul Curran must have wished he had still been playing at the back in a defence which was making basic mistakes. Verner went forward once more but this time he was sent tumbling by Liam Mullan and Verner himself duly converted the spot kick.

Verner then completed his hat-trick on 40 minutes, a low drive into the corner and that was game set and match.

The Whites took their foot of the pedal in the second half, Larne came more into the game in the second half but Darren Armour should have scored, as he was about to pull the trigger after rounding the keeper William Wharry got back to deny him with a last gasp tackle.

Larne lost keeper Keenan to injury on 66 minutes but they grabbed a consolation goal on 80 minutes whenever Lewis Hamlin headed a cross home at the back post.

Right on time, Hagan got to the bye-line and his low cross was fired into the roof of the net by sub Damien McLaughlin. Five goals for the second week running means at least for now, it is going to be a 'White Christmas'.
