Match Report

In a line .......Managers' Views

'Domination doesn't win football, goals do' commented Paul Kirk after the Whites had relied on an 80th minute strike from James Bell to share the spoils at Mourneview Park.

The visitors applied pressure from the start, but for all their endeavour they only tested Paul Rice once - Conor Hagan got in behind the back-line, but Rice blocked his shot at the near post.Outside of that, the Glenavon back-line withstood the nuemrous balls into the box and then the home side took the lead.

David Bracken latched onto a pass from Ross Black, to steer the ball wide of Phil Matthews before netting. A stunning goal - the effect on the visitors, but it was a strike superbly finished off by the 20 year old 'new-boy' at Glenavon on twenty-eight minutes.

Second-half, the Whites continued to apply the pressure but equally, Glenavon looked as if they would not concede.

The visitors had a penalty appeal turned down after Hagan ended up on the deck after being challenged by Adrian Harper - to add insult to injury, referee Frankie Hiles who showed no less than eight yellow cards during the game, booked Hagan for what he considered 'diving'.

Marty Verner then broke down the left, his cross was met by Damien McLaughlin and Rice turned the ball around the post.Surely the Whites pressure would pay off ? and it did on 80 minutes, James Bell driving in a super volley to level the game.

The Whites continued to press forward, John Martin dragged a shot wide of the near post and then Rice denied Martin again after a scramble almost on the goal-line. Glenavon though had their chances on the break, gaps everywhere as both sides sensed that the three points could be taken. And, minutes from time, it looked like the Whites had won the game, Verner, from a similar position to Bell, netted. The Whites joy was however short-lived, the far-side referee's assistant raising his flag to indicate that someone was offside. The question was who? and the away supporters made their feelings plain to the official.

Glenavon had the last opportunity of the game, from a free-kick just outside the box but the kick was well wide of the mark.

Colin Malone - Glenavon

'We could have had three points against a team which has beaten us three times already this season, but I suppose at the end of the day Distillery really deserved a share of the spoils.'

             Paul Kirk - Lisburn Distillery

'I felt that we dominated from start to finish but at the same time I thought for a long while that we were not going to get something from the game.'
