Goal
spree sees whites close in on quarter-final
LISBURN
Distillery need one more win to be sure of their CIS Cup quarter
final place after they demolished Larne 5-0 following a shaky
start which saw the home side dominate without converting their
chances.
Larne
had the first chance on nine minutes.
A
foul on McCutcheon gave Larne a free on the edge of the box which
was curled just wide by Dickson.
Against
the run of play the visitors went in front on 23 minutes.
Murphy
supplied the cross which was missed by Armstrong but Willis following
up made no mistake from four yards.
Three
minutes before the break Buchanan found Kilmartin on the right
side of the box.
He
should have tested Spackman but shot high over the bar.
The
second Lisburn goal came on the stroke of half-time.
The
home defence failed to clear their lines allowing Willis to step
up and send a cracking shot past the static Spackman.
Half-time
Larne 0 Lisburn Distillery 2With less than a minute of the second
half gone the visitors extended their lead.
Poor
defending allowed Murphy the space and time to pick his spot.
Larne
wasted a great chance to pull one back on 50 minutes.
Fulton
set the ball up for Wright whose low cross found Dickson unmarked
two yards out but he shot over.
Distillery
made it 4-0 22 minutes from time.
Di
Lella lost possession in the middle of the park allowing Hagan
to run unchallenged before rounding the keeper.
The
fifth goal came five minutes from time when McKeown sent in a
low cross for Armour to tap in at the back post.
Larne
did grab a consellation two minutes later when Muir upended Dickson
who recovered to hammer the spot kick high into the corner giving
the keeper no chance.
