Distillery
hit six of the best to romp home
Paul Kirk must be wishing that the Whites could carry their CIS
form into their Premier League campaign as they thrashed Limavady
United 6-0 in an emphatic quarter-final victory.
This
game was over as a contest at half-time with Limavady down to
ten men and chasing a three goal deficit.
There
was plenty of drama and good football with a neat four man move
creating the Whites opener in the 10th minute. The ball was worked
down the right hand side, Andrew Dickson crossed and Francis Murphy
steamed in to volley home.
It
was just after the half-hour that the game erupted into life;
Dwayne Nelson saved a Darren Armour penalty in the 35th minute
after Tony Shields brought down Dickson. A minute later Shields
was given a straight red card for an apparent elbow on Conor Hagan.
Damien
McLaughlin made it 2-0 on 38 minutes latching on to a long ball
and slipping the ball past the outcoming Nelson.
United
though still kept pressing and after Nial Mullan had shot just
over Armour made it three with a close range header from a pin-point
cross by Murphy.
Sub
Chris Coffey hit the fourth on 52 minutes, an angled drive following
a superb reverse pass from Armour. Then five minutes later it
was five, Dickson firing another angled drive past Nelson.
Nelson
made a couple of good stops from McLaughlin and Armour before
the latter ran clear on 64 minutes, rounded Nelson and then was
then tackled by Graeme Philson.
Philson
went to ground as the ball ran goalwards and when he appeared
to handle, referee Frankie Hiles brandished a second red card
and Andy Kilmartin netted his first goal for the Whites to make
it six.
