Martin
double eases pain for Whites
LISBURN
Distillery put their recent run of four defeats behind them with
this comfortable victory in a game that featured a number of excellent
finishes in the second half.
John
Martin was the man in form for the home side netting two of the
goals.
James
Willis should have put the Whites one up after only 26 seconds.
Conor
Hagan crossed from the right but the unmarked Willis hit it beyond
Gary Ramsay and wide of the target.
A minute
later Willis was put clear by John Martin, his run took him beyond
the keeper and a defender but he was unable to get an effort on
goal after being forced wide.
In
the visitors' first attack, Tommy McCallion ran in from the far
by-line.
His
initial cross rebounded back off a defender, and cut inside but
from the angle of the six yard box his shot was deflected for a
cor-ner.
When
the corner was cleared the ball was swept up-field and Martin outpaced
Martin Smith to run into the box.
He
then hit a low shot past Ramsay from 15 yards out and the Whites
were ahead in the 16th minute.
Half-time:
Lisburn Dis-tillery 1 Institute 0.
On
57 minutes the Whites went further ahead thanks to an excellent
finish from Ha-gan.
The
ball was fed into Willis, he lopped it wide and Hagan smashed the
ball across the area and into the net.
It
was a goal feast after that, the Whites went 3-up in the 68th minute.
Martin
put the ball into the path of Willis and he fired in a blistering
drive from the edge of the 18 yard box.
A minute
later McCallion pulled one back for the visitors with a spectacular
30 yard fin-ish when he cut inside and rifled the ball home.
The
Whites were not fin-ished and after Ramsay had failed to collect
a corner in the 74th minute, Martin was there to cap an excellent
performance and stab the ball home.
