Armie
shoots down Ards
Match
Report
The
Whites created the first opening in the tenth minute when Black
and Bond combined to get Hagan away down the right, but his cross
flashed across the goalmouth with no-one able to get a touch on
it. The Whites were dominant and in the thirty-fifth minute, a
neat pass from Reid again sent Hagan away down the right, and
this time Armstrong was on hand to neatly score from 8 yards out,
giving the visiting keeper no chance. Even though they were by
far the more creative team in the first half, the Whites had only
one goal of a lead at the interval.
The
second half was a more evenly contested game, as the Whites seemed
content to sit back and allow Ards to come into the game. Although
the Ards team were playing better, they did not really disturb
Wilton in the home goal, and any half chance was easily dealt
with. Whilst the Whites had two clear cut chances, created by
good crosses from the right by Hagan, they could not increase
their lead, although Hagan was unlucky to have a good goal disallowed
by the referee, for offside, even though he looked to be in line
with the cross rather than have been adjudged to be in front of
it.

Comments
Not
a great game by any means, we were well ahead in the first half,
but could not take advantage of our superiority, and in the second
half were just content to let Ards come into the game, but they
never really threatened us at any time during the second half.
Young Jonny Magee standing in for Gary Spence, who was suspended
for one game, looked strong and dependable and should be staking
a claim for a position in the team shortly, one for the future.
