Match Report

This was a game we should have won by half-time, instead we went in 1-0 down, hit the upright twice, missed at least three sitters, and to cap it all Aaron Johnston missed a penalty on the stroke of the break. More missed chances and a giveaway goal left us 2-0 down midway through the second half, but they refused to lie down and fifteen minutes from the end we finally scored when JJ Crawford broke through rounded the keeper, fell, but somehow managed to prod the ball into the opposition goal. Continued pressure was rewarded when a free kick was brilliantly bent round the wall by Gary Spence to give the Whites a point, the least they deserved.

 

Managers Comments

In truth this game should have been beyond Larne at the break, but poor finishing left us with only a draw, instead of cantering to an easy win. A change of personnel, three subs. in the last half hour was rewarded with an improvement in the last third of the pitch. Fair play to the lads they never gave up and continued to play with spirit and no small amount of skill.
